10-Minute Simple Qigong Every Day: One Move "Hands Supporting the Heaven," Easily Relieve Stiffness and Enhance Daily Comfort

Introduction: Why Do You Always Feel Tense?

Modern people spend long hours sitting at offices and looking down at their phones, causing the shoulders, neck, and back to often feel "knotted." Actually, you don't need to go to a gym or buy expensive equipment. Just spend 10 minutes a day practicing an ancient relaxation technique - Chinese Qigong. The core of Qigong is not complex movements, but gentle stretching combined with breathing to promote the flow of qi and blood, making the body naturally relaxed and the mind also calm. Today, I share the simplest and most effective movement: "Hands Supporting the Sky to Regulate the Three Jiao," which can quickly stretch the upper body, relieve stiffness, and enhance daily comfort.

Who Is This Exercise Suitable For? When Should You Practice?

Whether you are an office worker, a homemaker, or an elderly person, if you feel: shoulder pain, neck tightness, back stiffness, shallow breathing, or easy fatigue, this exercise is suitable for you. The best time to practice is after waking up in the morning, during lunch break, or before bedtime. No mat is needed; you can do it standing or sitting, with absolutely no risk.

Exercise Steps: Complete in One Go, Just 10 Minutes

Step 1: Preparatory Posture (1 minute)

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent but not locked. Let your hands naturally hang by your sides, close your eyes, and take three deep breaths: inhale, imagining fresh energy entering from your soles; exhale, releasing all tension from the top of your head. Let your shoulders sink, and your body becomes like a relaxed willow tree.

Step 2: Supporting the Sky Stretching (6 minutes, 3 minutes per side)

Inhale, slowly raise your hands from the sides of your body, palms up, fingers facing each other. When your arms reach above your head, flip your palms upward and push as if supporting the sky. At the same time, gently lift your toes (if balance is poor, you can skip lifting them). Maintain this posture, using abdominal breathing: inhale, feeling a gentle force pushing your hands upward; exhale, allowing your body to slightly lower but keeping your arms raised. Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then lower your arms and rest for 10 seconds. Repeat 5-10 times. Then switch sides: bend your body to the left, extend your right hand to the left upper side, and support your waist with your left hand; maintain this posture with breathing for 30 seconds, then bend to the right.

Step 3: Concluding Movement (3 minutes)

Gently lower your hands to the front of your abdomen (at navel level), palms inward, as if embracing a balloon. Stand still with your eyes closed, taking five deep breaths. Then place your hands on your lower abdomen, overlapping them (men's left hand inside, women's right hand inside), and gently massage clockwise for 36 circles. Finally, move your neck and wrists, feeling warm all over your body.

Breathing Coordination and Gentle Adjustment Principles

Qigong emphasizes "movement within stillness, stillness within movement." Inhale when supporting the sky, which opens the chest cavity and allows more oxygen to enter; exhale when lowering, which relaxes the shoulder and neck fascia. This movement connects the Hand San Yang Meridians (Large Intestine, Small Intestine, and Triple Burner Meridians) and the Governor Vessel, promoting the circulation of qi and blood through gentle stretching, like a "clearance" for the body's internal systems. Practicing daily, you will find that you are no longer as stiff after waking up, your mental state is more full, and your sitting posture becomes upright unconsciously.

Daily Light Care Tips

  • Integrate into Life: Take one minute to perform the "Supporting the Sky" movement before brewing tea or waiting for the elevator; the effect is equally good.
  • Combine with Mood: Smile slightly while practicing, imagining happiness as sunlight pouring from the top of your head to your entire body.
  • Dietary Assistance: Drink a cup of warm herbal tea (such as chrysanthemum or mint), helping to promote the flow of qi and blood.

Summary

The simple Qigong "Hands Supporting the Sky" requires only 10 minutes a day, without any professional background, just a heart willing to relax. It reconnects the body and breathing in the gentlest way, freeing you from tension and allowing you to enjoy daily comfort and peace. Start trying today, giving your body a chance to be cared for.
