Why 5 Minutes After Sunrise?
In the early morning, as the sun rises, the body's yang energy begins to emerge. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that gentle activities in accordance with the time of day can help the flow of qi and blood, laying a relaxed foundation for the entire day. This gentle exercise requires no yoga mat or sportswear, just standing by the window or balcony, using 5 minutes to awaken your body, especially suitable for those who feel stiff and lack energy after waking up.
Applicable and Inapplicable Scenarios

Applicable for: people who feel tired in the morning due to insufficient sleep, shoulder and neck pain, cold hands and feet, and are prone to catching colds. Not applicable for: fever, acute stage of severe cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases, after surgery, or when extremely exhausted, please rest first.
Four Steps of Gentle Exercise
Step 1: Stretching (1 minute)
Stand naturally, slowly stretch both hands upward, lift toes while inhaling deeply, hold for 5 seconds, then slowly exhale and relax. Repeat 3 times. This movement stretches the Ren and Du meridians, helping to unblock the body.
Step 2: Waist Rotation and Abdominal Massage (1 minute)
Feet shoulder-width apart, hands stacked on the navel, gently massage the abdomen clockwise for 30 circles, while slowly rotating the waist left and right. It helps to awaken the spleen and stomach, promoting intestinal motility.
Step 3: Rub Hands to Warm and Apply to Eyes (1 minute)

Rub palms quickly to generate heat, then gently cover the eyes while still warm, closing eyes to feel the warmth spreading around the eyes, maintaining for 20 seconds. Then use the palms to comb hair from the forehead to the back of the head 10 times. It helps to improve vision and refresh the mind.
Step 4: Marching in Place with Breathing (2 minutes)
Naturally march in place, let arms swing freely, inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Inhale, imagine sunlight pouring into the top of your head, and exhale, relaxing the whole body. Finally, stop, let hands hang naturally, and close your eyes to feel the body slightly warm.
Mild Adjustment Principles
Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes "movement generates yang energy," but intense exercise is not advisable in the morning. This exercise awakens the qi and blood gently through mild stretching, localized massage, and deep breathing, avoiding sudden exertion that might harm the muscles and bones. Especially abdominal massage and eye rubbing directly regulate the internal organs and head's qi and blood, making one feel peaceful and comfortable from inside out.
