Introduction: Finding Calm in the Busyness
Do you often feel stiff shoulders and shallow breathing, yet feel exhausted even without doing heavy work? This is actually your body reminding you: your energy flow is blocked, and your mind has been overexerted. Mindful Qigong is not an unattainable skill, but a gentle self-care practice. Today, I'll share an easy beginner's tip - Shoulder Relaxation and Breathing Technique. Just stand or sit, and gently relax your shoulders while breathing, and you can unblock your blood and qi, and relax your body and mind.

Who Is It For? What Feelings Does It Help?
No matter if you are a white-collar worker staring at a computer all day, a parent overwhelmed with housework, or someone who feels chest tightness due to stress, when you feel:
- shoulder and back soreness, neck stiffness
- shallow breathing, prone to sighing
- irritable mood, restless
This exercise can help you return to peace. It is simple, requires no equipment, and can be done at home or in the office, safely and without risk.
Exercise Steps: Gentle Shoulder Relaxation with Breathing
Step 1: Preparation Stand naturally, feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent but not locked, hands lightly hanging by your sides. If sitting, sit on the front third of the chair, straighten your spine but do not stiffen it.
Step 2: Inhale and Raise Shoulders Breathe in slowly through your nose, and raise your shoulders as high as possible towards your ears, keeping your shoulders tense and not relaxed, feeling the muscles around your neck and shoulders contract.
Step 3: Exhale and Lower Shoulders Breathe out slowly through your mouth or nose, and let your shoulders drop completely at once, like removing a heavy stone. Feel your shoulders sink down, and your chest naturally opens up, allowing your breath to sink into your lower abdomen.
Step 4: Repeat 5-7 Times One inhale and one exhale make a set, repeat 5 to 7 times. After the last exhalation, close your eyes and stand still for 30 seconds, feeling the lightness of your shoulders and the flow of your breath.
Breath Coordination and Gentle Adjustment Principles
This technique integrates Chinese health concepts: Unblocking Blood and Qi - when raising your shoulders, you compress the meridians in your neck and shoulders, and when lowering them, the blood and qi rush in instantly, like taking a hot spring bath for stiff areas; Calming Breathing - long inhalations and slow exhalations stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, easing tension; Balance Between Movement and Stillness - alternating slow movement with sudden stillness harmonizes yin and yang. Doing 2-3 rounds daily, you will find yourself sighing less and unconsciously raising your shoulders less.
Summary: Daily Light Care, Starting with a Relaxed Breath
Mindful Qigong is not a competition, but a dialogue with your body. This shoulder relaxation and breathing technique only requires you to spend 3 minutes each day, opening a door to ease amidst the chaos. Remember: true relaxation is allowing your body to return naturally. Try it, starting with your next exhalation.
