Introduction: A Gentle Way to Relax for the Busy You
Do your neck and shoulders feel like they're carrying stones every day while sitting in front of a computer? Even if you haven't done any heavy work, do you often feel sore all over and have a headache? Actually, you don't need to go to a massage parlor or spend a lot of time. Just spend 5 minutes every day, gently massaging one spot with your hands, and your body will feel much better. This is a small wisdom from traditional Chinese health care: simple, safe, and can be done at home.

What does this technique treat?
This method is suitable for everyone suffering from shoulder and neck tension and daily fatigue. Whether you are an office worker, a student, or a busy mother, if you feel tension at the back of your neck, heavy shoulders, or a foggy mind, you can try it. It's especially gentle, painless, and only brings a slight comfortable tingling sensation.
Where to press? The two "small pits" under the back of the head
The acupoint we are looking for is called "Fengchi." How to find it? Place your hands under the back of your head, and you will feel two thick muscles (the thickest muscles at the back of your neck). Follow these two muscles upwards to the place where the head meets the neck, and you will find a noticeable depression, one on each side. Pressing with your fingers will give a slightly sore feeling - congratulations, you've found it!
How to press? Just three steps, super simple
- Preparation: Sit straight, relax your shoulders, and place both thumbs on the Fengchi points on both sides, with the other fingers gently supporting the head.
- Massage: Use the pad of your thumbs to press down slowly, until you feel a sense of soreness and distension, without applying too much force. Then slowly massage in small circles, either clockwise or counterclockwise. The movement should be gentle, like caressing.
- Duration: Breathe deeply while pressing, for 2-3 minutes. Do it once a day, or whenever you feel tired.
Why does pressing here work?
According to traditional Chinese medicine, the Fengchi point is where "wind pathogen" tends to invade, and it is also a key point where the meridians of the head and neck intersect. Gently massaging it is like loosening a taut rope, helping to unblock the meridians and balance the qi and blood. When the qi and blood circulate smoothly, the shoulders and neck naturally relax, and the head becomes clear. This is the concept of "daily light nourishment" - not disturbing, not laborious, taking the gentlest way to take care of your body.
Summary: Make relaxation a daily habit
Spending 5 minutes every day, without any tools, just with your own hands. With persistence, you will find that your shoulders and neck are less prone to soreness, and your whole body feels more calm and comfortable. Remember, the technique must be gentle, and comfort is the most important. If you experience pain or discomfort while massaging, stop immediately.
