10-Minute Simple Qigong Every Day: Release Stress and Fully Relax Body and Mind

Introduction: Regaining Inner Peace

Do you often feel tense shoulders, shortness of breath, and a foggy mind in the fast-paced life? You don't need to go to a gym or use any equipment. Just spend 10 minutes every day doing a simple Qigong exercise derived from traditional Chinese health wisdom - the "Opening and Closing Qi Pulling Method", which can gently unblock the flow of qi and blood, relieve stress, and let both your body and mind relax.

每天10分钟简易气功:释放压力,让身心彻底放松

A Simple Technique: Opening and Closing Qi Pulling Method

This movement imitates the actions of "holding a ball" and "releasing a ball," focusing on breathing coordination to guide the flow of internal energy. It is suitable for practice when you feel tired in the morning or afternoon.

Applicable for Physical Discomforts

  • Shoulder and neck pain caused by long periods of sitting
  • Chest tightness and palpitations caused by high stress
  • Irritability and difficulty falling asleep

Exercise Steps

  • Preparation: Stand naturally with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, arms hanging naturally at the sides, tongue lightly touching the upper palate, and eyes looking straight ahead.
  • Inhale and Open: Breathe in slowly while raising both arms from the sides upward, palms facing each other as if holding a balloon in front of the chest. Stop when the hands reach shoulder height.
  • Exhale and Close: Breathe out slowly while bringing the hands inward as if compressing the balloon, until the palms face each other (about 10 cm apart), and hold for 2 seconds. Repeat 8-10 times.

Points for Breathing Coordination

Breathing should be deep, long, fine, and even throughout the process. When inhaling, feel the abdomen slightly bulge; when exhaling, the abdomen retracts. Do not force yourself to inhale fully or exhale completely; maintain a natural and comfortable state.

Mild Adjustment Principles

The opening and closing of the arms promote expansion and contraction of the thoracic cavity, enhancing heart and lung circulation. Combined with deep breathing, it massages the diaphragm and relaxes the sympathetic nervous system. Traditional Chinese health practices believe that qi is the vital energy of life. "Opening" disperses and expels impure qi, while "closing" gathers and preserves original qi. The alternation of opening and closing brings balance between movement and stillness, allowing the flow of qi and blood to resume smoothly, and stiff muscles naturally become relaxed.

Summary

This simple Qigong exercise requires no special location and can be done standing or sitting. By consistently practicing for 10 minutes daily, you will feel the pressure sliding off your shoulders and the irritability dissipating from your chest through your breathing. Your body becomes lighter, and your mind follows suit. Remember: gentleness, continuity, and no forced effort are its core principles. Let daily gentle care become your best comfort.
